  1. It's BossLady Jones

Thanks a million for always giving valuable gems for those of us who are trying to create/grow a successful channel.

  2. I think #4 (do you niche research) is really important and hardly ever talked about. It’s hard to be an authority if you don’t know what the other experts are talking about. Thanks for this! I’ve been an entrepreneur for a very long time, but just now — in the last two months — consistently posting quality videos 🙂

  3. AALegalFocus

I’ve been working on my channel for 1.5 years & enjoyed hearing your tips. Now that almost everyone has a smartphone, making videos is easy & fun.

Thank you sooo much for this video Jessica! I have been putting off launching my channel for a while – I have my intro/outro and literally don’t know where to start…also terrified of failure. THANK YOU!

  5. Alabama Hot Sauce

Hi Jessica. Finding you tonight for the first time, and I am glad I did. I am a 70 year old guy who loves hot sauce. During recovery from a bad home accident, I decided to actually start a hot sauce business. So I have spent 10 months laying all of the bricks necessary. I am developing my own recipes, producing my own sauces, licensing and getting FDA approval, building my own website, and I am ready to go! My last obstacle is developing a YouTube channel to spread the news! Your video has convinced me that maybe folks might want to hear what an old guy has to say. Thank you and I look forwarda rd to more of your videos. Mr. Phil.

I feel like the only small piece of advice that may be missing is to subscribe and interact with the other creators in your niche – be the follower you want to have! Engage, hit the like button, and get those creators and the audience in that space interested in clicking on your profile. Not likely a huge way to gain followers but at the beginning every little bit counts!

We started a channel sometime in 2021 and I honestly to say we were not consistent and this year we have change so many things. Since this aired aired we actually have recorded for tapings for our channel consistently. So we are happy about that and our goal is to move forward and be consistent thank you so much for everything you said today it helped us a whole lot. Lol and we are going balls to the wall

  8. We’ve been at the YouTube journey for 2 years now. At first we were stressing out too easily (trying too hard) and seeing no progress, but now we just we’re having fun with making videos and I think it’s making a difference on our channel.

  9. Jacqueline Creative Lifestyle

Please just start. I was thinking like you. Then I just started and with my phone only. I’m an avid YouTube watcher and was watching everyone else succeed. That was over 10 years ago.

  10. Somethin Bout Drea

This was so helpful!!! I’m definitely guilty of number 5 and 6. I didn’t have anything planned and it was exactly like you said… if I woke up and didn’t feel like recording I wouldn’t. Also thank you for explaining what it means to niche down and exactly what to research I’ve heard this before but never in such great detail. Thank you💕

I’m planning on starting a channel this year but have been really nervous to start one. Your advice is great. What I want to do isn’t really on YouTube but it’s what I’m going to do anyways. This is about stepping outside of my comfort zone and doing what feels right for me. So that’s what I’m going to do. Will just my family and friends follow me eventually? Maybe. But that’s okay to me. I grew up missing from most pictures and videos because I was so afraid of the camera. I’ll be 50 this year. Time to boldly step in front of the camera now.

  12. The Midnight Mouse

Well it took me about 2 years to gather the courage to start my YouTube channel. In the end I just decided to plunge into and see how it goes. As I was trying to be more prepared I was getting more scared and this was actually pinning me down. So I started a month ago, with literally my phone and my window light. I’m learning as I’m progressing, but hey, I’m progressing! And your videos are like gold for me, thank you!

  13. Run with Regina

Yeah I also agree that doing niche researching can give a lot of useful information 🙌

  14. Paperback Fern

I just started my booktube channel, after putting it off for years. Just go for it! I’ve been having so much fun and when you’re too busy having fun, you don’t worry about the insecurities!

  15. T H E M R S. H O W E L L

Same 🙋🏼‍♀️ I’ve had a channel for quite some time but have yet to niche down (that’s my trouble area). Oh, and I’ll be 50 this year, too. Best of luck to us both! P.S. Forgot to add that my husband started his channel several years ago and is steadily climbing. If he can do it, so can I!

  16. URBAN GIRL GARDENING & LIFESTYLE

I’ve had my channel for over a year now but this year I’ve decided to treat my channel like it’s brand new! I really enjoyed your tips ☺️🌿

  17. Holly Allison

@URBAN GIRL GARDENING & LIFESTYLE even this comment I saw your channel name and I was like, ok I’m rural but also very curious to see your videos!

  18. Eli’s First Feast

This ain’t easy but do what you love doing. I just started my cooking channel. I hope it will do well in the future. 🙂

  19. Eli’s First Feast

Wish you all the best! I’ve just started my cooking channel, I hope it will go well!

  20. Eli’s First Feast

    @T H E M R S. H O W E L L love that! If he can do it, your sure can too! 🙂

  21. Eli’s First Feast

Recently started my channel, was quite anxious but hopefully it will go well ☺️

  22. Shawny B Golf

Think that’s the joy of YouTube. Everyone’s voice matters and everyone wants to hear different voices and like your self not everyone is 20 something watching YouTube. All ages need representation and other people like hearing and seeing other opinions I think.

  23. Out There Somewhere With Jamie

I think my “niche” will be based on eating healthy while being hypothyroidism and not using medications, but I also love to travel and doing off-grid things. I’ll try to combine them all in one. 🍍

  24. @Eli’s First Feast that’s awesome! Just gotta keep loving what you do 😀

  25. Same!!! I’ve just subscribed to you. 🌻 looking forward to seeing your channel flourish!

  26. Alabama Hot Sauce

Calib and Rissa, love your channel. Just looked at a couple of videos. Subbed you. Thanks.

  27. Smilte Marija Art

Starting wasn’t that hard for me, at first I just recorded my art process, and shared here on my channel. Now I am trying to put in more effort, share more behind the scenes of making my coloring books and writing as well 🙂 good luck, everyone!

  28. Im just starting with my channel( 3days ago) and i only have android samsung A20s device on hand! How stressful that is?? My videos and edits are not that fascinating even my thumbnail is not conspiuous. Yet, hoping one day that my channel will grow!

  29. Natasha Baylor

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been talking about starting a YT channel since last year but every time I thought about ACTUALLY doing it, I would get so nervous. 😰 But you have me pumped and excited! 💃🏾 I’m going to start strategizing today! Thanks again! 🙏🏾

  30. @Sunny Glad you started the journey! Hoping for the best for your channel also!

  31. Quaint & Crafted

Love this! Your energy is amazing and your words are EXACTLY what I needed to hear right now! Thank you so much! 🙏🏽💖
